Flesh

Yellow in the cap and top of the stem, brown in the lower part of the stem

Distribution

Very common

Habitat

On soil in open deciduous woods

Edibility

Edible but mediocre

Notes

Although easily confused with Xerocomus, the two species can be separated by the colour of the flesh in the stem and cap
